Ok~ talking about the trip. This trip to northern China is supposed to be "attending" a conference of "梁", our family name, which is held in 石家庄 (ShiJiaZhuang), about 300km south-west of Beijing. As our family is the only from Malaysia that attend, the organising committee provided us with the best. Oh ya~ not forgetting the SNOW we have once the plane landed on Beijing airport. It's a really rare occasion that one can see the whole airport, the runway, the plane, the control tower, all and everything is covered with white white SNOW!! hehe~ lucky me^.^ Meals in ShiJiaZhuang were an experience, where we have to fight like in an army, in which every1 will be given a metal plate and a pair of chopsticks, and then.....MARCH!!!! >.< style="font-style: italic;">.
The picture below shows our suite (from middle left most, clockwise), the ancestors of "liang", the conference venue, the temple of the "liang" ancestors, the army meal, and the parade to the temple in the city of ShiJiaZhuang.
After attending the conference, we process with our own sweet tour in Beijing. We started off with having handmade noodles beside our hotel, then, started walking about 4km from our hotel towards TianAnMen square, on the way, I found my beloved 冰糖葫芦 (BingTangHuLu)! It's a kind of fruit, coated with sugar. Now only I know, inside the "Men"(door) of TianAnMen is the forbidden city in Beijing >.<~ even after I walked in and out of the place, I didn't even realise that's it >.<, so, 2 places of interest down, one more to go b4 heading back. We went to the temple of heavens in a very small tiny cab, which is a modification of a motorcycle. The whole dimension of the cab is exactly 2 adults wide, 1 sitting height of an adult, and 2 back-to-back sitting length. And, I was all the way, sitting on my dad's lap all the way from the center of Beijing to the south of Beijing >.<. The temple of heavens is closed when we got there, we only have a chance to walk around the park, AND, the parks is really damn huge! Afterall~~China have all the land, and the emperor in the past really build huge huge HUGE stuff for his family's use >.<
The picture below (clockwise from top left corner): Syok sendiri with snow on bushes coz we were welcome by the 1st snow of 2009 when we landed on Beijing airport; beautiful scenery behind the forbidden city; the handmade noodle; 冰糖葫芦; Beijing city view; View outside the forbidden city; temple of heavens; and in the middle is TianAnMen square
The next day, we followed a tour to the Great wall of China~ wish fulfill one of my dream~ nyak nyak~~ Now, thinking about it, I have been to 2 of the 8 wonders of the world (stonehenge and great wall) in a year~ so?? 6 more to go~ hahahaha~~~Ok~ back to the topic. It's a very rare occasion that I will tell some1 that I've been to China, becoz I think that if one nv have their feet on the great wall, any trip to China just doesn't count. It was really magnificent! No words can really describe all these wonders of the world, but only the emo that hits u once u see them with ur own eyes. Oh ya~ I always wonder~ wat is inside those huge blocks in between those long long walls.....erm~ u know wat I mean? haha~ nvm~ doesn't really matter~ wat matters is now I know wat I want to know ^.^
Next, we proceed to ChengDe, another city 250km away from Beijing. Erm~ this city, according to the tour guide (personal guide, which approach us once we step out of the train), it was a village-cum-forest in the past, until emperor KangXi realised that his army was not doing well in the war, and he thought of building a training ground-cum-summer resort for himself and his army, so that they might do better in war. Story....all in the picture.
The pic below (clockwise from top middle): 魁星楼, a taoist temple; punning temple, a Tibetan Buddhist temple; and 磬锤峰, a unique shaped stone standing on top of a mountain (which there's a saying, one that touches the stone will live till 130 years old >.<)
Pic below(clockwise from bottom left):XuMi temple, a smaller version of the Potala temple; Potala temple ( a replica of that of Tibet); and the highest status taoist temple in China, in which it was build for the emperor's uncle; and finally, in the middle, Roast duck^.^ yum yum!!
I am back~
but, without souvenirs ^.^ only stories and photos to share^.^
Sorry la^.^
